Health And Safety Policy
Deep Cleaning Chelsea Health and Safety Policy
Deep Cleaning Chelsea is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for our employees, clients, visitors, contractors and members of the public who may be affected by our cleaning activities. This policy sets out our approach to managing health and safety in all areas of our deep cleaning services, including residential and commercial properties.
We recognise that effective health and safety management is essential to delivering high quality cleaning services and to protecting the wellbeing of everyone involved in or impacted by our work.
Our Health and Safety Objectives
The objectives of this Health and Safety Policy are to prevent injury and ill health, comply with applicable health and safety legislation, and continually improve our safety performance. To achieve this, Deep Cleaning Chelsea will:
Identify, assess and manage health and safety risks related to our cleaning operations and service areas.
Provide and maintain safe equipment, cleaning products and working methods.
Ensure all employees are competent to carry out their work through information, instruction, supervision and training.
Promote a strong safety culture where employees are encouraged to report hazards, near misses and incidents without fear of blame.
Regularly review and update our procedures to reflect changes in law, best practice and company operations.
Management Responsibilities
Senior management at Deep Cleaning Chelsea has overall responsibility for implementing and maintaining this Health and Safety Policy. Management will:
Ensure that health and safety considerations are integrated into planning and decision making for all cleaning contracts.
Provide appropriate resources to manage risks, including suitable equipment, products and personal protective equipment.
Monitor performance through inspections, audits and investigation of incidents.
Review the Health and Safety Policy at regular intervals and whenever there are significant changes in operations.
Lead by example by following all safety procedures and reinforcing safe behaviour among staff.
Employee Responsibilities
Every employee of Deep Cleaning Chelsea has a duty to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions. Employees are required to:
Follow all safety procedures, instructions and training provided.
Use personal protective equipment correctly and look after it properly.
Report accidents, incidents, near misses, hazards and unsafe conditions to management as soon as possible.
Refrain from misusing or interfering with anything provided for health, safety or welfare.
Cooperate with managers and supervisors to enable the company to fulfil its health and safety obligations.
Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work
Deep Cleaning Chelsea will carry out suitable and proportionate risk assessments for all significant hazards associated with our cleaning activities. These assessments will consider tasks such as handling cleaning chemicals, working at height, using electrical equipment, manual handling and working in occupied premises.
On the basis of these assessments we will develop safe systems of work and method statements appropriate to each cleaning service. These procedures will be communicated to staff through induction and ongoing training and will be reviewed at regular intervals and when circumstances change.
Chemical Safety and COSHH
Chemicals used in our deep cleaning services can present risks if not handled correctly. Deep Cleaning Chelsea will ensure that all substances are assessed for their potential health effects and that appropriate control measures are implemented.
Only approved products will be used, and staff will receive specific training on dilution, application, storage and disposal. Safety data information for cleaning products will be available to employees and followed at all times. Wherever possible we will select products that are effective yet minimise health and environmental risks.
Personal Protective Equipment
Where identified by risk assessment, personal protective equipment will be provided at no cost to employees. This may include gloves, masks, eye protection, protective clothing and footwear appropriate to the task and environment.
Employees are required to wear the provided equipment whenever specified and to report any defects or damage immediately. Management will ensure that equipment is suitable, maintained and replaced when necessary.
Manual Handling and Equipment Safety
Many cleaning tasks involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or using equipment. To reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury, Deep Cleaning Chelsea will provide manual handling training and adopt working methods that minimise heavy or awkward loads.
All machinery and equipment, including vacuum cleaners, scrubbers and other specialist deep cleaning tools, will be maintained in a safe condition. Staff will be trained in the correct set up, use and storage of equipment and will report any faults immediately so that unsafe items are taken out of service.
Working at Height and Slips, Trips and Falls
Where cleaning tasks require working at height, such as using steps or ladders, these activities will be planned and controlled. Only suitable and well maintained equipment will be used, and employees will receive training in safe use and positioning.
We will take practical steps to reduce slip, trip and fall hazards, including good housekeeping, prompt cleaning of spills, use of appropriate signage where floors may be wet, and safe routing of cables and hoses.
Incident Reporting and Emergency Procedures
All accidents, injuries, near misses and dangerous occurrences must be reported to management without delay. Deep Cleaning Chelsea will investigate these events to identify root causes and take corrective action to prevent recurrence.
Emergency procedures will be followed on client sites, including fire evacuation arrangements and first aid provisions. Employees will familiarise themselves with site specific procedures before starting work at any new location.
Training, Communication and Consultation
Health and safety training is an essential part of our commitment to safe cleaning services. New employees receive induction training that covers company procedures, site rules, emergency arrangements and safe working practices.
Ongoing training is provided where required, including refresher sessions and updates on new equipment or methods. We encourage open communication so that employees can raise safety concerns, suggest improvements and participate in developing practical solutions.
Policy Review
This Health and Safety Policy reflects the current activities and responsibilities of Deep Cleaning Chelsea. It will be reviewed regularly and updated as necessary to ensure it remains relevant, effective and aligned with legal requirements and industry best practice.
All employees and contractors are expected to familiarise themselves with this policy and to support its implementation in their daily work.
